Peggy Hurley and Linda Bishop are two passionate women! As breast cancer survivors, their commitment to providing an opportunity for women to move forward through the power of support, is truly inspirational. That’s why they are spearhead the Wonder Broads Dragon Boat Race Team.
As breast cancer survivors themselves, they celebrate life and maximize wellness through dragon boat paddling. Their mission – Courage, Commitment, Camaraderie, Teamwork, and Respect is seen in everything they accomplish. Their last local win was in 2015 and since that time they have travelled the world competing in Australia, Italy, Ireland and numerous races in the U.S.
As a registered non-profit charity, the team raises money to keep their boat afloat and donate to cancer care and research. They have raised over $2 million locally for cancer care locally. A truly amazing accomplishment.

Wonderbroads Support Work Toward The Cure
“Dominating the sport of dragon boat racing is not enough for the WonderBroads of Windsor-Essex — the breast cancer survivors also want to help find a cure for cancer. That is why the group is donating to the WE-Spark Health Institute and to University of Windsor cancer research.”

Tampon Tuesday Participation
On March 8, the WonderBroads brought boxes of donations to Tampon Tuesday. This was a great way to celebrate Women’s Day by creating awareness and supporting women who may live in financially compromised situations. These sanitary products are some of the most requested at food banks and the least donated items. Thank you to our participating team members as well as friends and family that contributed to our collections.
